Dealing with stress can present difficulties
for children and young people and show
itself in different ways. Some stress is
part of daily life and can be useful to us,
but too much can be hard to cope with.
Chronic (long term) difficulties in dealing
with stress can lead to mental health
problems in children and young people.
"Hands On Scotland" is a useful website
for anyone working with or caring for
children and young people who have troubling
behaviours. It gives practical information
and tools to support you to respond
helpfully. It includes video clips,
information sheets and downloadable tips and
advice. Another section of the website
contains help on topics related to positive
mental health, like confidence, optimism,
resilience and good relationships which help
children and young people to cope with life
The website was created with funding from
the Scottish Government to support mental
health and wellbeing.
