Who is the service for:

The team exists to provide early intervention and preventative supports to children and families in order to maximise their potential and;

  • Promote positive relationships between children, young people, their parents and school

  • Along with other professionals, identify and support children, young people and their families who may benefit from support

By early intervention we mean working with families when their children are in early stages of their school life, however this is not exclusively the case as we also consider early intervention in relation to the life of a particular problem or issue. As a result we work with a range of school-aged children, young people and their families.

Further information:

Within the Children & Young People Team we have three identified areas of intervention;

  • AIMS (Attendance Improvement Management Service) - this service raises the profile of the importance of school attendance. Staff work closely with pupils, families and schools to identify areas of need, to improve attainment and life chances for young people.

  • Mental Health Mental Wellbeing Team - staff work closely with school aged children and their families who may be experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, with a view to intervening early, thus avoiding more serious, long-term issues. We also offer a confidential counselling service for young people up to the age of 25.

  • Parenting and Group Working Team - staff offer evidenced based parenting programmes to support parents to develop additional parenting skills to help their children progress positively through their childhood so that they can reach their full potential.
